“THE SPEED OF THE SPIRIT”
This is a cover of a children's book I designed. The book is about a mythical forest that is endangered by humans who want to steal its magic, but it is protected by a fast and agile spirit.
All assets for this book cover were created in Adobe Illustrator using a combination of the pen and pencil tools. The assignment was to design a cover based on a word assigned from our names; my options were “speedy” or “lazy.”
I chose to explore the concept of speed through a nature-based approach. I intentionally avoided using animals, as I felt that would be a more obvious solution, and instead challenged myself to represent motion in a more original way.
Both the logo and the story summary featured on the cover were created by me, allowing me to fully develop the concept from both a visual and narrative perspective.
